Saint Louis School is home to nursery and primary ages children who have both been given the opportunity to engage with the colourful large scale, flexible play system at playtimes and as part of lessons.
Snug Evolution is designed to encourage social interaction, co-operation and problem solving and has been very well received by pupils and teachers.
Mrs Plumier, the Headmistress from Saint Louis School, says: “Snug Evolution has had a very positive impact on our pupils. It allows them to imagine, create, cooperate, organise and had further developed their skills and competencies in relation to Maths, French and physical development.
“It has been interesting to see the different phases children went through when we first introduced the kit. Some children were straightaway absorbed into imaginative and creative ways to play with the kit. Other children decided to watch for a while but very quickly involved themselves in play with their fellow pupils.”
She adds: “It seems there are endless ways to play with the Snug Evolution. In the first two weeks alone, children created multiple play settings including huts, slides, circuits, houses, castles, rally cars and even a swimming pool!”
Working with Snug & Outdoor, the original designer of the playground equipment, Sutcliffe Play recently relaunched the kit as Snug Evolution with a new name, colour scheme and piece of equipment.
The kit has played an important role in schools as part of Physical Literacy from foundation to key stage 2 to stimulate natural exercise and embodies fundamental movement skills.
Mrs Plumier concludes: “Snug Evolution was a great addition to our school. It allows children to develop a multitude of skills as they never tire of using the kit. For teachers it is a very useful multi-disciplinary teaching tool.”
