“Can you install a play area over a water tank?” It’s not a question we get asked every day but we’re always up for a challenge at Sutcliffe Play!
We worked with South Norfolk Council to install a playground that was built as part of a new housing development in Long Stratton. The new playground was installed above an underground water tank where houses couldn’t be built.
Peter Faulkner at Sutcliffe Play, said: “With our extensive design skills and innovative product range the answer was always going to be “Yes, of course we can!”
“Every challenge is an opportunity and we really embraced this one to create a playground that meets the needs of the council, housing developer and the local community.”
The focal point of the playground is Sutcliffe Express from our Toddlerzone range. The train themed multi- play unit encourages imaginative, inclusive, physical, social and challenging play opportunities with both climbing elements and a slide. A cylindrical tunnel, a cab with wheels and carriages provide opportunities for children to play together.
Swings, a roundabout and an inclusive springie complement the Sutcliffe Express.
Gary Howard from South Norfolk Council says: “It was an unusual request but Sutcliffe Play has more than delivered on the brief. Alongside the challenges of installing on top of a water tank, we also needed the equipment to be robust with low maintenance requirements. We’re delighted with the results.”
