Sutcliffe Play the perfect experienced partner for your project

Sutcliffe Play is proud to be the only play equipment manufacturer to be commissioned to design and build one of the 30 government funded Pathfinder projects.

Following an extensive performance tender by the Cambridgeshire Council, to assess design capabilities and processes, Sutcliffe Play were chosen for their creativity and understanding of the community consultation process.

Play for Places..............using the belief in Roman mythology that a ‘genius loci’ was the protective spirit of a place and now refers to a location’s distinctive atmosphere, we believe it is the foundation for one of the principles of landscape architecture and that designs should always be adapted to the context in which they are located. This should equally be applied when designing a play space in conjunction with the 10 principles for designing successful play spaces as outlined by Play England’s publication. Sutcliffe Play has considered all of these principles in all Pathfinder/Playbuilder projects it has been involved with;

  • designed to enhance a location
  • positioned in the best possible place
  • uses natural elements
  • allows for a wide range of play experiences
  • inclusive for all
  • meets community needs & requirements
  • allows children of all ages to play together
  • opportunities for children to experience risk and challenge
  • sustainable and maintainable for play and the enviroment
  • allows for change and evolution & growth

Natural Play at Durants Park is a playbuilder success...

Great care has been taken to ensure that recently opened Durants Park, designed and installed by play specialists Sutcliffe Play, reflects its natural surroundings and encourages children to use their imagination, unrestricted by traditional equipment and free to think and act as they want. Designed primarily for use by 8 to 13-year-olds en route to and from school, the park has quickly become a destination play area for children of all ages, including children with special needs and parents with young children.

The natural play equipment has inclusivity at the core of its design and provides play opportunities for children of all ages and abilities.
