Sutcliffe Play are proud to be a sponsor of the fifth 'Child in the City' conference, partnered by UNICEF, being held in Florence in October 2010. This event began as a relatively small event ten years ago and has grown into a European movement promoting the local implementation of children's rights. The event will focus on child poverty as well as building further on ideas from previous events, including space for children, children's mobility, children's participation and assessment tools.Rob Whitelock, Creative Advisor for Snug at Sutcliffe Play, has been selected to present a paper on the theme of Participation. His paper, 'Child Voice - Every Child Matters', will consider the impact of engaging young people in the design and manufacture of a sustainable community play space. Rob will use the King George V play area, Ware, as a focus for his presentation. This Sutcliffe Play project involved local young people in the design and on-site construction of a large play area. Sutcliffe Play will be attending BSEC MENA to showcase what we can offer to the play element of the schools facilities programme. Representatives will be available to answer any questions.BSEC MENA will commence with an opening ceremony led by H.H. Sheikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court and the Abu Dhabi Education Council (ADEC) to unveil its school facilities program. The school facilities program will see the building of 18 new schools across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi starting in mid-2010. These are the first new schools to be developed under ADEC’s 10 Year Strategic Plan. The program will provide learning environments of the highest quality that support current teaching methods and new curricula while supporting the population growth of the Emirate, across all age groups. “ADEC’s 10 Year Strategic Plan is a historic transformation of the education system that will deliver educational excellence. Providing students with world class learning environments is a key element of our 10 year plan and is the foundation for achieving excellence,” said H.E. Salem Al Sayeri, Acting Director General of ADEC. “With the best facilities to support them, students will have a greater chance of achieving their learning goals and will be better able to help Abu Dhabi reach its goal of economic diversification and growth. I am delighted that we have Musanada as our partner in delivering better schools for a better future” added H.E. Al Sayeri. |
