Architects & Designers

We are synonymous with innovative, well designed, robust children’s play equipment. Our well known signature products are traditionally manufactured using steel, aluminium and rubber.

Why Choose Sutcliffe Play?

Less well known are our capabilities in terms of flexibility, modularity, and our ability to create something bespoke from a sketch.

A secret even better hidden is the partnerships we have with other well respected European play companies, offering large tower structures, wobbly wood, outdoor gym sand and water play. This gives us a range unrivalled in the play industry and access to robinia woods – either in a very strong,  milled and laminated format, or in a more natural, sculptural quality, using the whole trunk construction.

We have worked extensively with other designers, architects and landscape architects. Our product designers and inhouse landscape architect are more than happy to work as part of your team, providing the play expertise.

“Experts” in Play

Whilst children themselves are the experts in playing, our customers tell us we are the experts in play and play spaces. Our company vision is to be “the global experts in play”. Knowledge is what others say sets us apart – knowledge of children, engagement, design, risk, challenge, inclusion and accessibility.

Product Range

Our range is the most extensive in the UK.  We offer steel, timber (hard and soft woods) and natural play equipment such as water and sand play. We span the age ranges from toddlers, to teenagers to adults. We provide traditional playground equipment such as swings, slides, roundabouts, seesaws, and more unusual items such as trampolines, zip wires, trim trails and net climbers. We specialise in inclusive play equipment. Sutcliffe Play also manufactures youth shelters, ballcourts/muga’s (multi-use games areas), and furniture such as benches and bins.

Inclusive Play

We believe passionately in inclusive play, giving every child equal access to good play opportunities. Our aim is for children of all abilities to play side by side, so we specialise in designing inclusive play equipment and spaces. Huge importance is placed on carefully designing inclusive features into our equipment. We also take care to ensure that the playspace itself is truly accessible to all

Consultation service

Spending time at the start of a project is vital to getting it right. The purpose of consultation, we believe, is to allow children, young people and others in the community to be involved in the environment they live in. So at Sutcliffe Play we encourage consultation, and believe in spending time and money on good consultation. Manufacturing here in the heart of Yorkshire means that if you would like to visit the factory to see our capabilities, we are only too pleased to host a visit.

Quality Assured

All of Sutcliffe Play operations meet the independently audited  ISO9001 Quality Assurance standard. Every product in our catalogue is certified to EN1176. Because we are employee owned, everyone in the company can lay claim to the title of Quality Controller. We have extensive guarantees, with a lifetime philosophy. We are a founder member of the API, our industry association that ensures that members have the necessary experience, financial status and quality of workmanship. In addition if you want to do something a little out of the ordinary, we can design in the spirit of the relevant European standards, employing risk benefit analyses where to conform exactly to standards might compromise your vision.
